Spend caps and confirmations
When the desk speaks to the guest before confirming a charge.
Each property's managers set two caps on Venues & menu, under Room charges:
| Cap | Default (USD hotels) | Most you can set (USD hotels) |
|---|---|---|
| Per order | $150 | $5,000 |
| Per guest per 24 hours | $400 | $10,000 |
A property billing in another currency sets both caps itself: there is no default in other currencies, so until both are set every room charge waits for the desk to call the guest, and Go live shows the check as missing.
Below the caps, a verified guest's charge is ready to confirm. Above them, the row on the Orders page says Call the guest before you confirm. Where codes by text are on, the guest can instead confirm the order with a code we text to the booking phone. Late checkout and upgrades always wait for staff confirmation.
- Ready to confirm: tap Confirm. The charge goes on the room bill and the guest is told.
- Call the guest before you confirm: call the room or the booking phone, then tap Confirm and The guest agreed? Confirm. That answer stays on the record, with any note you add.
- Reject takes the charge off and tells the guest.
- More, then Show evidence, opens the verification trail if the guest later questions a charge.
How orders settle#
Orders and flat-price laundry pickups paid through the room folio are charged to the room; a laundry pickup the hotel handles itself, or includes, has no Foyer charge. For orders paid through the room folio, when your team confirms an order, the charge goes on the guest's room bill: Foyer posts it to your PMS once charge posting is switched on for your property, and until then your front desk adds it in the PMS. Your PMS issues the invoice for folio payments. Card payments through your hotel's own processor are coming soon. Foyer never holds guest money, and guests cancel an order placed ahead until it is sent to the venue; other orders and laundry are cancelled through the front desk.
A guest charges to the room only when the hotel holds a card for the stay: your PMS shows a card or guarantee on the booking, or you told us every guest leaves a card at check-in and the guest is checked in, or the front desk marked the guest Card on file. A stay your PMS closes to charges is never charged. Details are on the Hotel page of the staff guide.
