Identity and verification

How the stay link and stay access code establish access.

Before anything is charged to a room, we need to be sure who is asking. Access is established through the signed stay link or the room number and stay access code.

  1. At check-in the front desk provides the stay access code. Optional SMS delivery to the booking phone depends on hotel configuration.
  2. The first device that opens it is bound to the stay.
  3. The stay link admits only the first device that opens it. Another device that opens the link is asked for the 6-digit stay code, or, where codes by text are on, a 4-digit code sent to the same booking phone, never to a number typed in the chat. The room QR with the room number and stay code works too.
  4. Late checkout and room upgrades always need staff confirmation. Where codes by text are on, a room charge over the hotel's limits also needs a 4-digit code sent to the booking phone.
  5. At checkout the session ends and the link stops working.

Room QR without a verified phone#

  • A room QR opens the room entry flow.
  • Where codes by text are on, the guest taps Text me a code and a 4-digit code goes to the phone on the booking of the stay in that room.
  • The answer is the same for every room, so the form never shows who is staying. On a changeover day only one stay is ever texted.
  • The 6-digit stay code from the front desk always works too.
  • After admission, guests can order and staff decide on room charges.

Surname and room number are not identity#

Anyone who sees a door number and a name badge could impersonate a guest that way, so Phil never accepts it as verification.
